Presentation proposals are due Sunday, September 20, 2020
Due to the relatively short timeline from the beginning of August when we decided to re-schedule IT² to a Virtual Conference on September 29 - October 1, we recognized that building a conference that meets everyone's expectations will take a lot of work in two short months! We fully understand that as educators and school technology professionals return for the start of another and this time very different, school year, it has been very difficult to take time to think about presenting at a conference. For these reasons, we are allowing for presentation proposals for breakout sessions to be submitted through Sunday, September 20, 2020, just a little over a week before the start of the conference! If you are able to submit session information sooner, we are much obliged to your promptness!
Why become a presenter?
IT² is currently looking for any motivated individuals that have something to share with a group of like-minded individuals. Is there something that you do in your district/classroom that would be helpful for others to know, now would be your time to show it off by becoming a presenter at this year's conference. There will be plenty of opportunities to share your knowledge during IT² as both a presenter and an attendee, so please, get involved today!
What should I present?
We are looking for presenters with a wide knowledge base when it comes to both using technology in a classroom or technology usage in general for your district. Our attendees include both School Administrators and Educators including Technology Directors, Technology Support Staff, Technology Integration Facilitators and Media Specialists.
Conference Sessions are 45 minutes each and are held on Tuesday, September 29 through Thursday, October 1. All sessions will be conducted live, but in a virtual format. IT² will provide the remote meeting technology and instruction on how to present your session virtually. We will also provide staff to assist in the moderation of your session and help you facilitate questions and interaction during your session. We will schedule sessions into time slots in order to ensure that our attendee tracks are adequately served and that presenters are not double booked.
Presenters for Conference Breakout Session proposals that are received by August 30, 2020 that are not vendor-affiliated will receive one $20 coupon for each session being presented that can be applied towards admission to the conference.
IT² will feature several types of presentations, much as would occur in our traditional, in-person conferences of the past. When proposing your session we will ask that you please indicate the type of presentation you will be providing in order to actively convey expectations to our attendees. The choices for presentation styles are:
- Listen and Learn: Lecture style presentations, attendees will be able to submit questions by chat to the moderators, no attendee video or audio will be enabled.
- Active Discussion: All attendees will have video and audio, the presenter will act more as a session facilitator and lead a discussion.
- Hands-On virtually: Attendees will be expected to actively participate in “hands-on” activities that the presenter leads them through, these will most likely be interactive activities or apps. You must describe the virtual hands-on requirements for your session in the session description.
Exhibitor and Sponsor Presenters
Exhibitors and vendors wishing to present at the conference must have a presentation-qualifying package purchased conference or conference sponsorship to qualify to present. Visit www.swwc.org/it2 and click on "Exhibitor Information" for details on becoming an exhibitor or sponsor. Vendors may not be co-presenters at a conference session unless the vendor purchased a qualifying exhibitor or sponsor package. Exhibitors and Vendors that have purchased a presentation-qualifying package are encouraged, but not required, to have an educator with experience in implementing their solution co-present in their session.
Require a presenters fee?
If payment is required for your presentation a consultant contract and approval must be obtained from our conference staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 507-537-2260 prior to submitting your proposal and no later than 9:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2020.
