Subject: New Billing Codes for IEP/IFSP Health-Related Services
Reference: DHS Memo 09-04-2025
What’s Changing
- Starting Oct. 1, 2025, all school providers enrolled with Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) must use CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes or HCPCS codes for billing.
- The old T1018+ modifier codes will no longer be accepted.
- SpEd Forms staff and programmers are working tirelessly to ensure the most efficient, least disruptive way to facilitate these changes.
Why This Matters
- This is a required change for all MHCP-enrolled school providers.
- Claims submitted with T1018+ codes on or after Oct. 1, 2025, will be denied.
What You Need To Do
- Prepare now to switch from T1018+ to CPT/HCPCS codes.
- IEP & IFSP Service Providers are required to enter and finalize September documentation as soon as possible before October 3rd to eliminate any issues with programming changes that will happen going forward.
- Watch for updates and additional information.
Key Takeaway
If you don’t update to CPT/HCPCS codes by Oct. 1, 2025, your claims will not be paid.
