In September of 2016, SWWC began the process for developing a baseline real estate and facility plan to address the facility needs of the agency.
In collaboration with the ACGC School District, we determined the cost of re-purposing the Cosmos Elementary School into a facility that would be more appropriate for students with special needs. As a result, Representative Dean Urdahl was successful in including $5 million in the bonding bill during the 2018 Legislative Session for this purpose. The City of Montevideo and the Montevideo Economic Development Authority donated land to be used for the construction of the SWWC ELC - Montevideo. The building, 22,250 sq ft, will be owned by the EDA and leased to SWWC. The current plan accommodates 30-45 students with expansion capabilities in a second phase of an additional 24-34 students. There will also be a early childhood program at this location. Select ELC - Montevideo in the left sidebar for more information.
