Description

Have your test scores increased in the last 5 years? Do you feel teachers are doing the hard work but not seeing different outcomes? Has staff vertically aligned their instruction across content areas? Do standards drive your curriculum? What are your school's instructional practices? Do you need instructional coaching strategies that work?

The role of school leaders has changed significantly in recent years. With little support, school administrators are now expected to provide leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment for learning; these demands represent a significant shift from what used to be considered a mostly managerial position!  In this session, we will provide a foundation and process for leading the work of curriculum and assessment for learning in your schools and districts.

During this day, you will:

  • Review the Standards Implementation Process and determine where your school falls within that process.
  • Examine Depth of Knowledge and Cognitive Rigor of intended Learning Targets in regards to the "intent of the standard."
  • Learn how to teach the process of aligning assessments to Learning Targets by practicing it yourself!

Please bring a device as we will be sharing resources digitally.

For those who attended last year's Instructional Academy: We have learned so much since last year and have tools and resources for you to take away from the day as well!

Intended Outcomes:

  • Learn how to lead a continous improvement process in learning and teaching
  • Learn how to write and recognize standards-aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Practice and discuss with colleagues the challenges and successes of Standards Implementation

Cost: $25.00 - Members (Schools currently in Shared Services, RtI, the North Collaborative or South Collaborative qualify for the $25.00 member fee.)  $125.00 for Non-member fee for full-day. $75.00 for half-day
