TO:  School Food and Nutrition Services Professionals

SUBJECT:  Back to School Workshop 

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has established minimum Professional Standards for school nutrition professionals effective July 1, 2015. All School Nutrition Program are required to have a minimum number of training hours annually. This 10th Annual “Back to School Workshop” on August 15th will help meet the Food and Nutrition Services Staff level requirements for the 2017-2018 school year. 

This course will cover the following areas, which are coded to meet the Professional Standards Requirements:

• The Power of Positivity! (Code 4130) On Monday mornings, do you jump out of bed with excitement or do you pull the covers over your head? No matter your job role, you can create a positive work environment for yourself and your customers using personal positivity along with simple marketing and customer service skills. Hint: Your customers deserve it!
• Teamwork Makes for Dream Work (Code 3410) Kitchen teams are only as strong as their weakest link. Come learn how to make your team strong and develop a culture of teamwork.
• Reinhart Food Show (Code 2430) Attend the Reinhart Mini Food Show to gain new product and menu ideas for the 2017-2018 school year, and enjoy lunch at the same time.
• Civil Rights (Code 3420): Making Sure Your District Is In Compliance (Annual Mandated Review)
• Offer Versus Serve (Code 2220): Are Your Students Taking The Correct Portions Under the Current Guidelines for Breakfast and Lunch? (Annual Mandated Review)  

5.5 training hours will be offered for the USDA/MDE Professional Standards Requirement and School Nutrition Association Certification Program. 

The class will be offered at the Marshall High School - 400 Tiger Drive - Marshall MN
