This workshop will provide an overview of the secondary transition planning process and strategies to prepare students for competitive integrated employment opportunities through experientail learning. 

Transition is a passage from one life event to another.  In the educational system, transition is used to describe the passage from school to adult services and full community participation.  It is a bridge between the security offered by school and the opportunities and risks in adult life.

For a student with a disability, transition offers challenges that require additional guidance and assistance from families and others to help him or her effectively deal with the new challenges.

Target Outcomes:

  • Increase in understanding of the six components within secondary transition planning
  • Increase in understanding of career and technical education/work-based learning components
  • Answer your questions about ACTE-SPED aid

Target Audience:  Secondary Special Education Teachers, Work Expericence Coordinators, Social Workers, Staff who work with secondary transition aged students.

Registration Fees:  SWWC Service Cooperative Member and Subscribe to Special Education Services $15; SWWC Non-Members & Non-Subscribers: $115
