This workshop is designed to be an engaging experience for School District Technology Directors, Coordinators, Integration Facilitators and Support Staff.

 

Schedule for the Day

8:30 to 9:00 - Open Peer Networking, Registration and Refreshments

9:00 to 9:15 - Welcome and announcements

9:15 to 11:45 - The 2017 K-12 Horizon Report, Part 1

  • Participants will be actively engaged in an interactive look at the "Trends" that are being highlighted in the 2017 edition of the K-12 Horizon Report. The Horizon Report is an annual publication of NMC and CoSN which over much of the past decade has accurately forecast emerging trends in K-12 education technology on a short term to 5 year, or "horizon", outlook. This year's Horizon Report activities will be split into 3 seperate workhsops based on previous years' feedback.

11:45 to 12:30 Lunch and Peer Networking

12:30 to 1:30 - The CoSN Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO and CoSN CETL overview.

  • An overview and analysis of the CoSN Framework of Essential Skills for a K-12 School District Technology Leader will take place. Discussion on the preparation, pathways and how to obtain the CoSN Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification will be discussed.

1:30 to 2:30 - School Social Media applications and practices.

  • Does your school leverage social media? If not, is it something that has been discussed or is on the radar? We will look at what schools are doing, what schools have learned and why some schools are staying away from social media.

$25.00 - Participants from Technology Services Subscribers

$80.00 - Participants that are not Technology Services Subscribers

$100.00 - Walk-in Participants who were not pre-registered.

The registration deadline is October 6, 2017 at 4:30 PM. All registrations received after that time are considered walk-in participants.

Cancellations must be received by 4:30 p.m. on October 6, 2017 to qualify for a full refund, after which all registrations are final and no refunds will be issued. Substitution of attendees from the same district/organization will be allowed up to the day of the event. In the event a workshop is cancelled by SWWC, a full refund will be given. An email address that is accessed often must be included when registering to ensure receipt of any cancellation notifications.
