MN Early Learning Standards: A Tool to Support Your Work in Multiple Early Childhood Settings

Description

Spend a day digging into the newly revised Early Learning Standards and networking with your colleagues.  These standards are a framework for a common set of developmentally appropriate expectations for children ages birth to kindergarten, within a context of shared responsibility for helping children meet these expectations.  New structures, support materials, and changes to the individual domains will be examined and applied to teaching and learning at the Pre-K level.  Participants will consider student outcomes at multiple developmental levels and build connections to a strong transition to kindergarten for students.  Time will be provided to address questions educators may have and to provide feedback on what is helpful and what could still be improved around the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.

Presenter Ann Mikkalson currently serves as a Teaching and Learning Coach for Kasson-Mantorville Public Schools in Kasson, MN, working alongside teachers and administrators from preschool through high school.  Her experience includes roles as a First Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Title I Coordinator.  Ann is passionate about learning and supporting teachers in the important work they do every day.
