DCD/VI/PHD Professional Community of Practice Meeting - FLYER

Description: Come and meet Garrett Petrie, Education Specialist - Developmental Cognitive Disabilities from MDE. He will be sharing statewide updates. The morning includes a presentation by the Service Cooperative’s Vision Consultants (they gave the same presentation in Willmar last Spring). In the afternoon participants will learn how to write standards-based IEP’s, gain tips on how to understand behaviors as they appear with lower cognitive ability, complete a “make and take,” and hear about new AT solutions. The day will end with an opportunity for teachers to network together to share resources, strategies, and success stories! Please be prepared to join in and share ideas with colleagues.

Outcomes

  •            To increase awareness of vision concerns and learn strategies to use when working with students with vision issues.

  •            To allow an opportunity for teachers to network with each other to share ideas/brainstorm solutions with another.

  • To learn about new AT solutions available in the Regional lending library. 
  • To learn about standards based IEP writing and understand more about behaviors in students with lower cognitive ability.  


Required Outcomes
(This workshop meets licensure requirements for): Accommodation, modification, adaptation of curriculum, materials, etc. Further reading preparation. Technology.

Target Audience: Any Special Education Teachers, Speech Pathologists, or Occupational Therapists who work with kids with VI, DCD, P/HD and SMI. 

No fee to sponsored district in Region 6 & 8

 $25.00 fee to non-sponsored districts to cover handouts and food/refreshments.

ALL “NO SHOWS” will also be billed $25.00 for the cost of food and handouts.

CEUs available—5.5 Clock Hours will be available after completing a short online survey that will be emailed to you approximately 4—6 weeks following the workshop. It will be sent to the email address you used to register for the workshop.
