Implementing the Minnesota English Language Arts Standards
Description
- Audience: Invited Schools come with your school team (teacher and administrative leaders) responsible for implementing the language arts standards in their own classrooms and supporting colleagues by sharing information and processes learned in the training.
- Format: Your team will participate in six days of training
o Three days will address processes for establishing an infrastructure for implementation, understanding of the standards, creating learning targets,designing standards aligned units, lessons and assessments, and examining data and student work to inform instruction.
o Three additional days will be more customized around implementation issues specific to the cohort and data reflected in Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)/ English Language Arts (ELA) survey.Topics may include standards-based grading, differentiation for supporting all learners, development of common assessments, and best practice and practice profiles for improved learning. The cohort’s needs and interests will determine the content.
The trainings will be interactive. Your team will be supported while creating an action plan, developing alignment documents,collecting survey data about your school’s readiness, and learning and implementing protocols to facilitate teachers’ exploration and installation of the standards.
