Developing Leadership Skills through the Adaptive Schools Seminar - Worthington

Description

The Adaptive Schools approach to leadership is geared toward building collaborative capacity in systems.  Leaders will engage in the tools, lenses, and organizing ideas that provide for "structured, sustained, and supported instructional discussions" that generate improvement in student learning.  Topics to be addressed and covered to develop and enhance leadership skills will include the following: Adaptivity, Two Ways of Talking: Dialogue and Discussion, Norms of Collaboration, Two Types of Conflict and Effective Meetings and Four hats of Shared Leadership.

This is typically a 4 day training series, participants will attend Days 1 and 2 in June, then decide if they choose to proceed with Days 3 and 4 during the 2016-2017 school year, to complete the series.

Participants will develop: 

  • an increased capacity to initiate, develop and sustain high functioning groups
  • new lenses for diagnosing the stages and phases of group development
  • an expanded repertoire of practical facilitation tools
  • understanding of when and how to engage groups in dialogue and discussion, the limitations, forms and values of each
  • skills to move groups beyond consensus to common focus
  • ways to value and use dissension, argument and conflict
  • strategies for keeping group members on track, on topic, energized and resourceful

Cost: SC Members - $325.00 plus $40.00 training manual (Days 1 & 2)
         Non-Members - $375.00 plus $40.00 training manual (Days 1 & 2)
