Huff & Puff Your Way to Better Academics & Behavior

Description

Looking to add some physical activity to your lessons? This session is designed to demonstrate how movement and physical education can change the culture of your classroom and school.  Learn how to positively influence math and literacy scores, learning, academic achievement and student behavior by incorporating physical movement.  Walk away with ready-to-use lessons that were used, and gain a renewed sense of how movement can improve academic learning when it is integrated into the learning environment.

Join presenter Joe McCarthy, national speaker and award winning Minnesota Physical Education Teacher. Joe and his team analyzed their state assessment scores, took the lowest scoring teachers in second through sixth grade, and gave them physically active math and literacy lessons that were integrated into class.  As a result of their efforts, these students showed a three-fold growth in achievement on their reading scores! Although reading and math will be demonstrated, this concept can be used with any content area or group of students!
